Updating Ben’s Portfolio – November 2009

money On the first Thursday of every month, I plan on reviewing the portfolio and making any changes that seem necessary.

You can see the portfolio in this google spreadsheet.

Here’s a snippet from the construction:

When constructing the portfolio, I began by deciding on asset allocation.  I knew I wanted to stick to companies that we have in our database with a target allocation of 10% per company.  However, I also feel that the market is currently well overbought and I am hesitant to put much into equities.

I still feel the market is well overbought (even more so now) and will leave the allocation the way it is for now.  I also decided not to rebalance the portfolio at this time because the allocations are fairly close to their targets.

Here are the companies in the portfolio:

Since the last update, the following transactions were made:

  • Received $0.34/share dividend on 312 shares of TLH for $106.93.
  • Received $0.70/share dividend on 173 shares of HYG for $121.89.
  • Received $0.20/share dividend on 573 shares of OLN for $114.60.
