23 Companies in the Spotlight This Week – 3/9/15
We evaluated 23 different companies this week to determine whether they are suitable for Defensive Investors, those unwilling to do substantial research, or Enterprising Investors, those who are willing to do such research. We also put each company through the ModernGraham valuation model based on Benjamin Graham’s value investing formulas in order to determine an intrinsic value for each. Exelon Corporation Annual Valuation – 2015 $EXC
Exelon Corporation is not suitable for the Enterprising Investor or for the Defensive Investor. The Defensive Investor is concerned by the the low current ratio, and the insufficient earnings growth over the last ten years. The Enterprising Investor is concerned by the level of debt relative to the current assets.

Exelon Corp presents a rare situation where the ModernGraham valuation model returns a valuation of $0. The earnings history of the company simply does not support a positive valuation, after having shrunk EPSmg (normalized earnings) from $3.28 in 2008 to an estimated $2.56 for 2013.
